Corsets have become synonymous with the boudoir shoot - they can look very sexy, giving you an hourglass shape and pushing up boobs whilst hiding a problem tummy - however there are definitely some shapes and types to avoid. I'd avoid corsets completely if you are very slender - they hide all your best slim bits and draw the eye to your chest which you may want to avoid if you have very small boobs!
Basques:
Basques are the ultimate in flattering lingerie - they hide your middle bulges, they have supportive cups and sexy suspender straps - I cant think of any shape or size girl that wouldnt benefit from a basque! I especially love them on sizes 16 or over - lush!
Corselettes:
The vintage sister of the basque! If you already know you'd like to go for a full-on vintage look for your shoot then why not consider a corselette? They are similar to basques but longer and cover more of your upper chest generally too.
Bra’s:
I'd always suggest something a bit different from your regular knickers and bra sets - however slim, small chested girls look fabulous in lingerie sets THE most important point to consider with bras or any item with formed cups is that they fit well.
Knickers:
Not too difficult this one, we all have some decent pants in our drawer - shortie knickers are the most flattering and frilly ones look great under your corsets! Plain black works best with most colours, unless your styling for bridal.
Baby-dolls:
These can be fabulous for hiding your tummy whilst still showing off your great cleavage - as long as you follow our simple rules! Unless you have pert boobs enhanced by plastic surgery avoid baby-dolls with no cup support.
Wearing Colour:
For most of your shots more neutral colours work best, beige, black, ivory etc. For a real colour pop try red, hot pink, teal, emerald green or purple. Think about your own colouring, for example red-heads look incredible in dark green silk! If you have bold hair colour like black, very very dark brown, platinum blonde or red then bold block colours look amazing.
Stockings and Hold Ups:
Well these are just the icing on the cake! Most partners adore stockings, they draw attention to the thighs and lead the eye downwards. They look fiddly and constricting and this adds an air of mystery! If you have large thighs don't be afraid of wearing something on your legs. There are also new tights/stockings combination that seems to be a very popular alternative! They are actually tights but from a distance look like stockings so none of the fiddly suspender straps or thigh bulges! If you really don't want to wear stockings or hold-ups then try a pair of sheer black tights instead or maybe fishnet ones if going for a vintage look! Pale ivory lace-tops are great for bridal shoots.
Nothing:
Even if you don’t want to show it all in your photos having a set or two or three where you’re only covering with a sheet, prop, or creative post can really spice up a shoot. I am really good at creating poses and coverage options that highlight your favourite features without having to use your wardrobe.
I also shoot nudes as well, but I do so tastefully. If you are proud of your body, and/ or have worked hard to get it, artistic nudes are a great way to remember it. I have many clients who have done nude photo-shoots and commented that it was very empowering and a great experience.
High Heels:
This one might seem like a no brainer, but let me clarify just a little. Heels are good, HIGH heels are GREAT! If you want to make a that booty pop (and you know you do..... and if you don’t your partner does!), nothing will do that better than a pair of high heels..... 2 inch heels are NOT high heels.
Nails:
Don't forget your nails! Your hands feature on many shots and untidy nails look dreadful and very noticeable! Go for traditional elegant polish such as a French Manicure.
